In my last post about the old town of Lagos, I mentioned Ponta da Piedade (Google Maps link) as a nearby attraction. The popular cliffs of Ponta da Piedade have many beautiful gold-coloured rock formations that are visible from the point. There are also many caves, most of which are only accessible by boat. It might be […]

Hiking in Verdon
On one cloudy morning on our road-trip in Europe we drove back to the Gorges du Verdon to take a scenic hike down to the river below. We couldn’t find the start of the hike so we just walked up a random little mountain instead. Wild Herbs and Good Views This hike was almost like walking through a […]
On the Verdon River
Once I’d discovered that this place existed, I knew that it was one for the bucket list. I’d done Google image searches, hungry for more pictures. This landscape just has that sort of postcard-picture attraction. I think it was definitely the colour of the water that drew me in. We don’t really get that sort […]
A Walk Through Saint-Jean-de-Luz
Saint-Jean-de-Luz has one of those sunny, shimmering, colourful harbours that you’ll see in guidebooks and think: Now that looks really lovely. That’s how it got onto my itinerary anyway. This wonderfully-quaint old town has a lot of water. Various rivers meet the sea here and the view of the sea from the sandy bay stretches […]

A Day in Galway

Patna Waterfall, Rishikesh

The hike didn’t take longer than 2 hours, return. However, it was quite steep at times. PACK If you’re hiking in the rainy season, […]
Los Cristianos
If you arrive at Tenerife via ferry, you’ll be familiar with the touristy town of Los Cristianos. This town used to have such a small population that they couldn’t afford a castle or fort and so they were continuously raided by pirates, keeping the population down. A lot has changed in the last few hundred years as industries […]
Model Yachts on The Lough
I ended up at The Lough because I was looking for something, but I found something else: model boats racing. The Cork Model Yacht Club was founded way back in 1920 and usually have races happening every Sunday around midday. If you’d like to find out more, you can go here or here.
Red Barn Beach
It was midday when we stopped over at Red Barn Beach near Youghal, but it almost looked like dawn. The brooding clouds diffused the light really nicely and the colours and reflections were muted and gentle. It was a really good day to have my camera with me. There’s so much space on this beach […]
