If you’re looking for a great place to stop for a healthy meal in Cork city, stop over at Rocket Man! This lovely food company started creating a range of locally-sourced healthy and convenient food options and selling them at the farmers markets in Cork back in 2012 and since then have two premises in the city as well. You can find the Rocket Man HQ Salad and Juice Bar at 38 Princes Street. They’re open serving breakfast (mix and match for €5; porridge, granola, fruit and seed toppings), snacks, drinks, sandwiches, hummus plates, flatbreads and stew six days a week (Monday – Wednesday from 8:00 -17:30; Thursday – Friday 8:00 – 18:00 and on Saturdays from 9:00 -18:00 (salads are served from about 11:00 and range from €5,50 – 6,50 for 2 -3 scoops and toppings). They also offer a range of tasty, fresh raw juices to try (€ 4 -5).
Then there’s their falafel house, E A S T located at at Unit 2, The Winthrop Arcade in Oliver Plunkett Street, which is also great for a healthy and satisfying take-away or sit down meal. If you’re at a local market, you can find Rocket Man goodness at Mahon Point Farmers Market every Thursday 10:00 – 14:00 or Douglas Farmer’s Market every Saturday 09:00 -14:00.
Argh, I just want to go to Rocket Man HQ now and eat everything!! Or else, since that can’t happen, to make all the delicious- and healthy-looking salads myself!!
