Staying in Amsterdam East

Well, here’s some exciting news: We’re on our way to Ireland to live there for a bit! My husband, will be starting a new job there. En route we decided to stop at a Schengen country because our visas for that area are still valid. It was either Paris or Amsterdam (it felt like we didn’t have too many options since there aren’t that many airlines that fly to Cork). I love Paris but I was there more recently than Amsterdam and so we decided on the Netherlands.

Right now I’m in the east of Amsterdam, we’re staying in a lovely little room in a house that’s at the end of a cobbled alleyway. Out hostess is very accommodating and she has a beautiful, white cat that is very sweet :) It’s a very quiet spot at the end of a cul-de-sac but after a short walk, you’ll find yourself in a busy shopping street with quaint cafés, a canal or a bit further along, at the Amstel! What I’ve seen of Amsterdam Oos is very nice indeed. There is a direct line to Centraal Station via the tram and a Vomar (grocery store) right nearby which are both very convenient. A few steps away is a lovely park called Park Frankendael, great for walks and picnics.
