There are a handful of really great markets around Cork and I haven’t been to all of them yet! But, here’s what I found on a spontaneous visit to the Douglas Farmer’s Market in spring.
You’ll find the outdoor market happening in front of the Douglas Village Shopping Centre (near Mark’s & Spencer’s) every Saturday from 10:00 – 14:00. It’s a great spot for a cup of coffee (or sparling kefir) or a luxurious lunch or brunch and focuses on showcasing local quality foods from local producers; bakers, cooks, fromagers, farmers and fishermen.
In upholding their goal of supporting local producers and sustainability, the market doesn’t allow the sale of any GM products, battery eggs, large-scale grown veggies or imported fish.
Sneaky tip: If you need a spot to park, there’s free parking (limited time, no doubt) at entrance on the opposite side of the mall.
It all looks so delicious!!
I know! I can’t wait to visit other markets nearby.
