On one cloudy morning on our road-trip in Europe we drove back to the Gorges du Verdon to take a scenic hike down to the river below. We couldn’t find the start of the hike so we just walked up a random little mountain instead.
Wild Herbs and Good Views
This hike was almost like walking through a herb garden in the mountains because we spotted so many different kinds of wild herbs. There was lavender, juniper, thyme and rosemary. As we walked under oaks and pines, we found tarragon and wild roses. The mountain summit offered stunning lookouts over the turquoise lake. We also found some succulents and evidence of a wild boar hangout.
I’d love to go back to this area and just hike every single day, or kayak; anything just to be outside. There’s so much to see and there’s natural beauty in every direction.
